(New York, NY) - RUBE has premiered the official music video for "Desperado" which can be streamed HERE. The rising Brooklyn rapper is bringing serious heat with his new single just in time for summer. The clip was shot in RUBE's native Dominican Republic. He collaborated once again with director Tevo Teeven and producer by Tone Jonez.
"As a kid growing up in harsh Brooklyn we looked up to the pushers that had material possessions we thought we needed," RUBE said when talking about what inspired the track. "Of course we were wrong, but I figured I’d capture the allure and possible reasoning behind their choices."
RUBE recently performed his first live concert supporting Ja Rule on his 2018 tour and is currently planning more select shows this summer.
Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised by his Dominican parents, RUBE quickly found a home on the city's basketball courts. He grew up to be 6'6"and became a prep star at St. Patrick's High School in Jersey City, NJ.
He accepted a full basketball scholarship to La Salle University in Philadelphia. Upon graduation, RUBE fulfilled his dream of going pro. He played professionally in Spain, China, Cyprus, Qatar and his parents' native Dominican Republic. In 2015, he was drafted to the NBA D-League by the Austin [San Antonio] Spurs.
After retiring from the game he loved, RUBE changed gears and channeled his passion to pursue a higher calling - making music. He aims to craft songs that have the potential to be timeless. Music not only to appease the ears, but to stimulate the mind. With his debut single "Freedom," he got off to a ferocious start.
